Prior to launching the company full-time in October 2015, DeForrest served as the Assistant Vice President of Financial Stability Partnership at United Way of Central Alabama. In this position, he provided administrative oversight for initiatives statewide to increase and sustain quality financial empowerment programming. More than 5,000 low to moderate income Alabamians have benefited from these programs which impacted their local communities by more than $20 million. DeForrest worked for United Way of Central Alabama February 1999 to October 2015.

 

 

DeForrest taught at Miles College from June 1994 to January 1999 full time and part-time from January 1999 to present as a Business Instructor. During 1997 he was named “Teacher of the Year”. DeForrest served in the United States Air Force from March 1990 to October 1993. During his service he was honored as “Information Management Specialist of the Year” in 1992.

 

DeForrest holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Tampa College, a Bachelor of Science degree in General Business from Alabama A&M University, and an Associate and Applied Science degree in Administrative Management from the Community College of the Air Force.

 

 

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, DeForrest is married to Cassandra Moore. He is the proud father of DeForrest, Jr., and Kiara.
